Imaging

Digital X-rays are fast, convenient, allow your doctors immediate access, and expose you to less radiation than traditional X-rays.Staying current with the new advances in orthopedic surgeries is of the utmost importance at Peninsula Orthopedic Associates. We offer each of our patients the latest in technologies to make the diagnosis and treatment of their conditions as accurate as possible. We are proud to announce the new technologies that are now offered at our offices. POA patients can now take full advantage of our new extremity MRI, digital X-rays and our bone density studies.

If the thought of being enclosed in a whole body MRI machine makes you nervous, then our new extremities MRI machine is perfect for you. The extremity MRI machine offers the same high-quality readings as a traditional MRI machine, but it is quieter and more comfortable. This MRI for lower and upper extremities including feet, ankles, knees, hands and wrists allows you to sit while the scanner is moved to the injured area. POA has gone through the rigorous accreditation process and is certified by the Intersocietal Commission for the Accreditation of Magnetic Resonance Laboratories. You can view our accreditation certificate here.

A bone density study allows our physicians to easily detect early signs of osteoporosis, or thinning of the bones. Our physicians will take scans of your body to determine the amount of calcium in your bones. This will let our physicians know if your bones have started to deteriorate, allowing the proper care to be administered to treat osteoporosis.

Digital X-rays allow POA doctors to quickly and easily store X-ray images on the computer for convenient viewing options. Digital X-rays offer a more thorough way for viewing images, and it also allows the images to be saved and secured for long periods of time. This eliminates the worries of losing or damaging a patient's X-ray. Furthermore, digital X-rays take less time because there is minimal setup involved and they are available to POA doctors for immediate review. Perhaps the biggest benefit is less radiation exposure compared to traditional X-rays.

Call POA today to schedule an appointment with one of our highly-skilled orthopedic specialists to experience a thorough and accurate examination.

The new extremity MRI offers the same high-quality readings as traditional MRI machines, but is quieter, more comfortable, and open.
